PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that the City of Red Wing Planning Advisory Commission will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., to hear and make a recommendation on a proposed amendment to the Red Wing Zoning Ordinance. The Red Wing Planning Advisory Commission is proposing an amendment to Division 65: Sign Regulations of the Red Wing Zoning Ordinance that would address the use of "Electric Message Signs". The proposed amendment establishes several new definitions and addresses message duration, motion/animation, brightness, and size. The proposal would also expand the use of Electronic Message Signs to the 1-1 Light Industrial Zoning District; currently, Electronic Message Signs are allowed only in the B-2 General Business Zoning District.

The purpose of these new proposed regulations is: to encourage the effective use of signs as a means of communication in the City of Red Wing; to maintain and enhance the aesthetic environment and the City's ability to attract sources of economic development and growth; to improve pedestrian and traffic safety; to minimize the possible adverse affect of signs on nearby public and private property; and to enable the fair and consistent enforcement of these regulations. The proposed amendment may be viewed or obtained at the Community Development Building, 419 Bush Street, Red Wing, MN 55066 or by calling (651 )385-3622.

Written or oral comments to said proposal may be presented at this public hearing or filed with the City Clerk prior to this hearing. Each response will be duly considered and evaluated before any formal action is taken by the Planning Commission.

This notice and the proposed amendment will be mailed to property owners that currently operate an Electronic Message Sign on their property.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that the City of Red Wing Planning Advisory Commission will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., to hear and make a recommendation on the zoning of a portion of the Mississippi National Golf Links property, 409 Golf Links Drive, which was recently annexed into the City of Red Wing from Wacouta Township. City of Red Wing staff is proposing to the Planning Commission that the property be zoned "AC - Agriculture Conservation." The AC Zoning District is designed to protect and preserve the open-space character and natural state of certain land by reducing development pressures. Such land may be owned by a governmental agency or group, organization or private individual and shall include such lands as marshlands, drainage ways, steep bluffs, river frontage, woodlands and other areas with significant environmental and aesthetic value. A "Golf Course" requires a Conditional Use Permit in the AC Zoning District.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that the City of Red Wing Planning Advisory Commission will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., to hear and make a recommendation on a Variance request by Vicki Anderson, 1509 Phelps Street, to construct a 15'x25' driveway/parking area in her front yard that does not lead to a garage, carport, or rear parking area. The Red Wing Zoning Ordinance does not allow parking in the front yard of a residential property except on a driveway that leads to a garage, carport, or rear parking area.

Lot 11, Block 2, of Hewitts Subdivision to the City of Red Wing, Goodhue County, State of Minnesota. More commonly known as 1509 Phelps Street.
