Notice is hereby given that the City of Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., to hear and make a recommendation on a Variance request by David J. Maynard and Cathy Porter-Maynard, 4241 Hickory Street, to construct a 24’x30’ detached garage in their rear yard with a 10’ setback from the rear property line/Oak Lane Drive right-of-way. The property is a corner lot with three sides of frontage on platted public streets. The Red Wing Zoning Ordinance requires that a front yard setback be provided on each street for through lots or lots with double frontage; a front yard setback for a detached accessory building in the R-1 Zoning District is normally 24’.

Part of the southwest quarter (SW ¼) of the northwest quarter (NW ¼) of section 27, in township 113 north, range 15 west, in the County of Goodhue, State of Minnesota, described as follows: From an iron on the west line of said section 27 and the southerly line of Township Road (Hickory Street), thence run north 83 degrees 15 minutes east along the southerly line of said Township Road 210 feet to the place of beginning of tract here to be described; thence continue north 83 degrees 15 minutes east along the southerly line of said township road 112 feet to the westerly line of Oak Lane Drive; thence south 1 degree 41 minutes east 128.8 feet; thence south 53 degrees 6 minutes west 113.9 feet; thence north 5 degrees 52 minutes west 185.5 feet to the point of beginning. More commonly known as 4241 Hickory Street.
Written or oral comments to said application may be presented at this public hearing or filed with the City Clerk prior to this hearing. Each response will be duly considered and evaluated before any formal action is taken by the Planning Commission to make a recommendation to the City Council. The City Council will consider and evaluate all responses made at the Planning Commission Public Hearing and the Planning Commission’s recommendation. No additional oral comments will be presented at the City Council meeting prior to a decision by the City Council unless specifically requested by the City Council.
