Police: Man beat up victim, threatened witnesses
A Maiden Rock man faces three felony charges for allegedly assaulting a man outside a Pierce County bar, then threatening witnesses who tried to help the victim.
Kevin D. Fisher, 48, was charged this week in Pierce County Circuit Court with substantial battery, two counts of intimidating a victim and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
If convicted on all charges, Fisher faces a maximum punishment of more than 23 years behind bars and a $61,000 fine.
The charges stem from a March 2 incident in Elmwood, where Fisher allegedly attacked a man, kicking and punching him in the head, according to the criminal complaint.
Authorities at the scene said the man likely needed stitches to fix his cut lip.
The victim told police his sister is married to Fisher's brother and there was some arguing about children, though it is unclear why Fisher became upset and the argument became physical.
The bartender asked Fisher to leave several times. When he refused, the victim took Fisher outside and a fight ensued, according to the complaint.
One witness said he allegedly saw Fisher punch the victim in the face twice, bounce his head off the concrete sidewalk twice, then kick him in the face.
Fisher allegedly threatened then man when he stepped outside the bar to break up the fight, according to the complaint. He also told a female bartender who called police during the fight he was going to kill her.
An officer who listened to a recording of the 911 call said he could hear Fisher threatening and swearing at the bartender.
Fisher is scheduled to appear in court 1 p.m. Friday for a preliminary hearing.
