Police deal with suicidal man at Levee Park
Authorities were able to pull a distraught Red Wing man from the dock at Levee Park early Tuesday morning.
Red Wing police were notified of a 28-year-old male who was possibly suicidal. An officer found the male sitting on the edge of the dock, obviously upset, said police Chief Tim Sletten.
Two more officers showed up and tried talking to the man, who spoke Spanish, Sletten said.
Because the man was distraught, possibly suicidal and there was a language barrier, the man refused to move away from the water to talk to officers, Sletten said.
The officers, Sletten said, were able to get close enough to grab the man and bring him to shore. He was then transported to Fairview Red Wing Medical Center for evaluation.
