Plat denied for Stanton subdivision
The Goodhue County Board denied a preliminary plat request by Greater SW Holdings to build Little Cannon River Woodlands, a proposed residential subdivision in Stanton Township.
The Planning Advisory Commission submitted a recommendation to deny the plat on a number of grounds, including proximity to major road improvement projects and the lack of municipal utilities in the area.
The city of Cannon Falls also has objected to the subdivision because it resides within the city's urban growth area and could obstruct future development, county zoning Administrator Michael Wozniak said.
Chris Priebe of engineering firm G-Cubed read a letter on behalf of Greater SW Holdings, stating it would work with the county to "ensure orderly design standards" and install utilities that could be easily integrated with Cannon Falls utilities as the city grew.
Greater SW Holding's proposal included 12 residential lots on four parcels of land totaling close to 147 acres, according to a Land Use Management report.
The board voted unanimously to deny the plat request.
