Plane runs out of gas, makes hard landing
A Red Wing man suffered minor injuries after he had to land his ultralight plane without power when it ran out of gas Tuesday.
The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office received a call Tuesday evening from Frontenac Golf Course reporting a number of golfers had seen what looked like a possible ultralight plane crash nearby, authorities reported. Sheriff’s deputies located the pilot, Daniel Possehl, who said he took off from a grass strip in Frontenac and was flying when he noticed he was low on gasoline. He had turned around but ran out of gas and had to land without power. He was not seriously injured.
The Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted, as required, the sheriff’s department said.
