The board approved a resolution renewing Red Wing High School's and Tower View's membership in the Minnesota State High School League.
The board made two minor adjustments to the 2013-14 calendar; the district added an all-staff development session on Aug. 29 and removed a paraprofessional training day on Jan. 21 that was included on the calendar by mistake.
Tower View Alternative Learning Center's Robotics Team told the board about how students recently competed in the Northern Lights Regional robotics competition in Duluth. Team members also demonstrated the robot they built -- which shoots Frisbees -- for the board.
The board approved a resolution that will eliminate a 1.0 full-time equivalent position at Sunnyside Elementary School and 169.25 hours each week of paraprofessional time. This is due to changes in special education needs.
Board members also approved adding two 0.5 FTE special education positions. It's not anticipated that there will be any terminations resulting from the changes, administration said, though staffing decisions will be made in June.
