MNGL contract finalized

The Red Wing City Council voted Monday on final approval of a Mississippi National Golf Links management agreement with Red Wing Municipal Golf Corporation.

The council approved a version of the contract at its last November meeting, but RWMGC had some suggested alterations.

The city did not agree to all the nonprofit’s requests after the ad hoc golf committee discussed them, but did make some clarifications and changes, such as some insurance amounts.

“They’re ready to sign this as it is,” Council President Lisa Bayley said of RWMGC. She said with the changes the committee thought it was appropriate to bring back before the council for a final vote.

Agreeing to the contract was a key step in a lengthy process of deciding what to do with MNGL.

“This has been a long time coming,” Bayley said after the vote. “Thank you, everyone, for working to get that done.”

The council also approved a contract Monday night with Turf Solutions and Management to prepare the course for operation in 2014.
