Michael Weigand, 66
Michael Weigand, 66, of River Falls died on Saturday, July 13.
He was born and raised in Milwaukee, graduated from Milwaukee Riverside High School, attended UW-Stevens Point where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity, graduated from UW-Whitewater with a business degree, and received a master's degree in counseling from UW-River Falls. He was married to Patti Southard on Oct. 5, 1985, in Eau Claire.
He retired 4 years ago from Wackenhut Security at Prairie Island Nuclear Plant in Red Wing. He also worked for Private Industry Council, was the director of Red Wing Area Seniors, director of the Women's Center/Transitional Housing in Red Wing, and an executive for the Boy Scouts of America in Eau Claire, Milwaukee, and Illinois. He was the director at Camp Phillips and Indian Mound Boy Scout Camps and Asbury Acres United Methodist Camp.
Mike was preceded in death by his sister Peggy Hensel; his mother, Eleanor, and stepfather, Johnny Bower; and uncle Paul Reiche.
He will be missed by his wife, Patti; son Mike (Cathy); daughter Emily (Ben) Shier; and grandsons Erald, Ben, Mel, John, Barret, Oliver, August, and Hawke. His brothers John and Robert and his sister Mary helped to raise him, and he loved them very much.
Mike was enjoying retirement spending time with his wife and enjoying his kids and grandkids. He loved his dogs, Jasmine and Betsy, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, marksman, and enjoyed reading, music, and keeping in touch with his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be at Cashman-Hill Funeral Home in River Falls from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. with burial at the Glass Valley Cemetery to follow. Memorial gifts to Habitat for Humanity or the Adoption Ambassador Program would be appreciated.
