Merlin Merritt Anderson, 87 June25, 2008
Merlin Merritt Anderson, 87, of rural Stockholm died Wednesday at the Pepin Manor. Born June 2, 1921, in Lund, Wis., he was the son of Merritt and Esther (Hawkinson) Anderson. He was born, raised and lived his entire life on the home farm. He attended Barrys Corner School and graduated in 1939, from Pepin High School. Nov. 6, 1954, he married Roxanna Thalacker at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She preceeded him in death on Feb. 10, 1995. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed his life as a farmer. When time allowed he enjoyed fishing and steam power shows.
Survivors include two sons, Mike (Jodie) of Arkansaw, Wis. and Pat (Lorna) of Stockholm; one daughter, Karen (John) Wheeler of Eau Claire, Wis.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxanna; one sister, Helen Soderstrom; and two nephews, Ron and Scott Soderstrom.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lund Mission Covenant Church in Lund, Wis. with the Rev. Greg Satterberg officiating. Burial will be in the Free Home Cemetery in Union Township. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m Sunday at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, Wis. where there will be a 7 p.m. Masonic Service and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
