Matter dropped

Goodhue County Board voted unanimously Tuesday not to take disciplinary action against three county officials named in an employee complaint.

The vote came after a roughly 50-minute closed session in which the five-member board reviewed a report submitted by an independent investigator retained by the county. The motion was forwarded by Commissioner Richard Samuelson and seconded by Commissioner Dan Rechtzigel.

Samuelson moved that the county side with the investigator’s recommendation that the two allegations raised were unsubstantiated and that no disciplinary action was warranted against County Administrator Scott Arneson, Human Resources Director Melissa Cushing and Veterans Service Officer Lyman “Robby” Robinson Jr.

Board Chair Ron Allen said he agrees with the recommendations, but still had “concerns” regarding one of the allegations.

Because the board decided not to take disciplinary action, the details of the report and nature of the allegations will stay confidential, County Attorney Steve Betcher said.
