Margie C. Stumpf, 92
Margie Carol Stumpf, age 92 1/2 of Red Wing, died Tuesday, May 27, at her home.
She was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Burnside Township, Minn., daughter of Charles and Frana (Prescher) Kuhfuss. In 1939, Margie graduated from Red Wing Central High School. She then attended nursing school at St. John's Hospital for three years until 1942, graduating as a registered nurse. On Aug. 24, 1944, Margie married Hilbert Stumpf at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Haycreek, where the couple were long-time members.
She made her living working as a nurse at the City Hospital, St. John's Hospital, the Seminary Home, and lastly Goodhue County Public Health where she worked for 17 years before she retired in 1986. Hilbert died December of 1970. Margie loved fishing, gardening, four-wheeling, traveling, spending time at her cabin, and most of all being with her family.
Margie is survived by her four children, Ronnie (Jeannie) Stumpf, Frederick (Cindy) Stumpf, Bonita (Douglas) Callstrom, and Larry (Roseanne) Stumpf, all of Red Wing; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Alice Kuhfuss.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters, Deloris Korsten, Kathryn Dahl, and Jean Klair; one brother, Charles Kuhfuss; one half-sister, Evelyn Halpaus; and one half-brother, Lloyd Kuhfuss.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Haycreek, with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at church.
