Mailbox vandals strike Welch neighborhood
A rash of mailbox damage was reported Sept. 10 on 145th Ave. in Welch, authorities said.
Four mailboxes were discovered damaged along the avenue by what appeared to be a baseball bat or similar object, Goodhue County Sheriff's Office said.
Officers were called to the avenue Sept. 9 for a report of a mailbox that looked as though someone tried to pull it down using a toe strap. The strap apparently broke and was found lying next to the mailbox, according to the report.
Officers were called back to the residence the next morning for two reports that the mailbox — as well as a neighbor's — was heavily damaged. While responding, officers noted two additional mailboxes were damaged along the avenue.
