Mail carriers collect more than four tons of food
Red Wing's rural and city mail carriers collected more than 4 tons of food during Saturday's Stamp Out Hunger campaign. Red Wing Food Shelf volunteers started picking up food from the U.S. Post Office as carriers brought it in at 8 a.m. Collection continued until 5 p.m.
The final total was 8,558 pounds, postal worker and Stamp Out Hunger coordinator Dewey Christianson said. He credited the citizens who responded to the many EconoFoods bags that STEP program students helped distribute.
