Maiden Rock man launches Busy Bee
MAIDEN ROCK -- Jody Werner spent his formative years constructing and designing forts with multiple levels, even installing trap doors on the second floor.
Picking a career was an easy call.
"I've always been intrigued by construction," he said. "I've always wanted to go into construction and own my own business."
The Appleton, Wis., native accomplished both goals. He is his own boss -- again -- thanks to the launch of Busy Bee Construction and Design in May.
Werner has called this area home for three years while he finished his construction degree at University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie. He completed degree requirements in May.
"I knew this is where I wanted to be," he said. He loves the outdoor opportunities this area provides.
Pleasing the customer
Werner started his career at 18 and became an owner at 20 when he launched his first company, one that specialized in residential spec houses. On top of that, he was in real estate, usually selling the houses he built.
"I was pulling double duty and getting burned out," he said.
Sensing a change, Werner started taking college classes.
Busy Bee will focus on residential and commercial construction.
"Residential is a lot more personal because people are involved in it emotionally and financially," he said. "And you want to please the customer as much as possible."
The business will offer remodeling and free estimates along with the construction and design. Werner said the business is licensed and insured.
