Girl Scouts network July 16
A friends of the Girl Scouts networking event is set for 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday July 16. The event is open to "anyone and everyone who believes in Girl Scouts' mission," organizers said. It will take place at the Sheldon Theatre Mezzanine.

Bloodmobile stops in Plum City
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will hold a blood drive noon to 6 p.m. July 15 in the Plum City American Legion Hall. The Red Cross noted while the need for blood does not drop in the summertime, donations often do.

Ause will lead nature hike
Local bird enthusiast and former Red Wing Environmental Learning Center director Bruce Ause will lead a nature walk through Frontenac State Park 9 a.m. Thursday July 11. Meet at the Highway 61 wayside five miles north of Lake City (12 miles south of Red Wing).
The walk is free. Bring binoculars.
AgStar looking for video submissions for contest
AgStar Financial Services is again holding its Purple Ribbon Video Contest, which will allow young farmers to showcase their showmanship skills.
To enter the contest, contestants produce a video that shows how they get their animal ready for the state fair. Winners will be announced at the 4-H Auction at the Minnesota State Fair on Aug 24.
One winner in each of the three age groups -- 14-15, 16-18 and 19-21 -- will receive a $500 scholarship. Contestants will compete for the most votes on their videos, which will be shared through AgStar's Facebook page and on the contest website.
The contest began July 1; videos must be submitted by Aug. 11. For more information, visit agstar.com/purpleribbonrules.
