Lloyd John Louis Thomforde, 88, of Richfield, N.C. passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

He was married to Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Bryan in Red Wing, on June 6, 1947.

He was born in Goodhue, Minn. on May 8, 1925, to the late Odella and Maynard Thomforde. Lloyd graduated from Goodhue High School in 1943. He enlisted into the Navy that same year & in January 1944, left for boot camp. He was trained as an electrician in the U.S. Navy and continued to pursue this enthusiasm for electricity after the Navy. He continued his education in Radio & Television School in Kansas City, Mo. He moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1950, after getting a job at WLAV TV as an engineer. He later switched professions and worked as a traffic manager for Rowe Mfg. Company. He then was transferred to New Jersey in 1964, as a plant Manager of one of their facilities.

After his wife opened a successful retail candle making and gift business he quit his job and opened a wholesale business in supplying candle making materials throughout the U.S. They continued in those businesses until 1975, when they moved back to Minnesota to be closer to their parents. In the 1980s, they both entered Seminary training to become non-denominational Pastors. They were Pastors at Sowers of the Word Church in Wanamingo, Minn. for many years.

Lloyd is survived by his wife; and four children: Jean Dueck of Pensacola, Fla., Gary Thomforde of Red Wing, Minn., Debra Thomforde of Salisbury, N.C., and Michael Thomforde of Richfield, N.C. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Lloyd will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of family and many other noble attributes. Lloyd was a beloved pastor and member of the community and could frequently be found ministering & helping people in his church and community. He was also an advocate for Israel and truth and justice.

A memorial will be held at Restoration Church 795 Cannon St. Extension in Rockwell, NC 28138 at 2 p.m. on Dec. 8. A private burial service will be held at a later date by the family.
