Meet author Register

Minnesota author Cheri Register will be presenting as part of the Hot Reads for Cold Nights program at the Red Wing Public Library. She will speak about her memoir, “Packinghouse Daughter.”

The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Red Wing Library and the Red Wing Book Club, will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 22 in the Foot Room. It is free and open to the public, and there will be refreshments and door prizes.

Learn how to research family history

Beginners can learn basic genealogy research at the Cannon Falls Library 6 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 18.

The class will focus on how to start your search, where to find the best information and what records are needed for successful research. Bring a laptop.

Author’s Sundays planned at LeDuc

The Dakota County Historical Society and Friends of LeDuc of Historic Hastings will hold the first in a series of Author’s Sundays on Feb. 23.

Featured author is Joel Arnold, who wrote “Ox Cart Angel.” He will speak, read passages from his book and sign copies at 1 p.m. at the LeDuc Estate, 1629 Vermillion St., Hastings.

Refreshments will be served. A $2 donation is suggested.
