Linda Lou Soifakis, Welch

Linda Lou (Klindworth) Soifakis, of Welch, died Tuesday at her mother's home in Zumbrota with her loved ones by her side. She was born April 14, 1949, in Lake City, Minn., the daughter of Hazel (nee Roper) and Milford (Pete) Klindworth. Linda was a graduate of St. John's Lutheran School, rural Goodhue, and Goodhue High School. She attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, for one year and then transferred to Mankato State University where she graduated with a degree in speech therapy/audiology. After living and working in San Jose, Calif., for a few years, Linda returned to Minnesota and devoted 30 years of her life to working for Lutheran Social Services. While in California, Linda married George Soifakis; they later divorced.

Linda is survived by her parents, Hazel Dettmer of Zumbrota and Pete (Donna) Klindworth of Lake City; devoted friend, Chuck Bremer; stepchildren, Chrissy DeVries of California and Rigo Soifakis of Oregon; stepbrother, Richard (Kathy) Holst of Lake City; seven stepgrandchildren; godchildren, Angie Raebel, Ellie Henrichs and Joanne (Olson) Knobel; aunts, uncles, cousins and a lifetime of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Linda loved traveling - particularly to the mountains in Colorado. She enjoyed helping others and was a supreme advocate for anyone with special needs. Her love of animals and the outdoors is legendary. She was a beautiful person - both inside and out; blessed be her memory.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 202 Eighth St. W., Hastings, Minn., with the Rev. Percy Damrow officiating. A private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing, Minnesota. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing.
