Letter: Together we're improving our community
To the Editor:
Advancing the common good. This is what United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha & Pierce Counties is doing in our local communities.
Our focus is on education, health, and basic needs — the building blocks for a good life. United Way recruits people and organizations that bring passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done.
As our 2013 United Way Workplace campaign season is coming to an end, it is inspiring how many generous people are opening up their hearts, giving a gift and making a true impact in their communities.
We invite you to be a part of the change. You can give, you can advocate and you can volunteer.
That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED. We are currently preparing for Community Investment, the collective United Way process in which applications for funding are submitted from area nonprofit programs who are addressing community needs in the areas of education, health and basic needs.
Community volunteers then read applications, conduct site visits, attend presentations and make funding recommendations to the United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha & Pierce Counties Board of Directors.
If you are interested in volunteering for the Community Investment panel, please give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
Together, we are improving the lives of everyone in our community. We kindly thank you for your generosity and for living united.
