Letter: Thanks for changes to zoning

On behalf of Save-The-Bluffs Citizens’ Group, I would like to extend our thanks to the Goodhue County Board members for voting yes on Dec. 5 for the zoning amendments on silica sand mining. In addition, adding the one-mile setback from the Mississippi River and approving an additional staff member to deal with the mining applications and issues.

As we have all learned in almost three years of study, this type of mining poses a significant threat to our health, environment, tourism and traffic levels. We appreciate all of your efforts in taking this time to hear us and act on our concerns.
