Letter: Support Southeast Tech and its students
On Tuesday, April 16th Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical campus held their scholarship banquet at the Red Wing campus. As a college 115 students were award scholarships totaling $108,700 that evening. Many students spoke about the importance of financial aid in assisting them in achieving their educational goals. Having attended these banquets, I continue to be impressed with the stories of hardship and hard work and wondered what more we as a community can do to support the students and campus that provides skilled work force to our communities. I truly believe it take a whole community to educate a child.
How can you be a part of this important community asset which graduates approximately 700 students per year? First, go out and take a tour of our campus on Pioneer Road. You will be impressed with the quality of the students, staff and facilities. Second, consider giving financially to the Minnesota State College Southeast Technical Foundation that makes it possible to provide scholarships to deserving students. You can also support the foundation by attending the 8th annual Red Wing community connection golf/dinner and live auction on Thursday May 23, 2013 at Mount Frontenac in Frontenac, Minnesota. If you are a golfer, sign up for the 18 hole scramble tournament. Registration for the golf tournament event can be made by calling 651-385-6300. By attending the dinner and/or golf tournament you are supporting the students, staff and this valuable community asset.
