Letter: Food shelf accepts fresh produce
To the Editor:
I would like to add a few things to my article in the newspaper last week on the "Plant a Row for the Hungry" program here in Red Wing.
First, I know that many gardeners have tried to donate vegetables and fruits to the Goodhue County Food Shelf in the past and been told that they only accept non-perishable items. That is not the case anymore.
The food shelf is feeding over 240 families at this time, so fresh produce never sits more than a few days before it goes out.
If you have any questions about the PAR program, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by the Extension Office at the Government Center, Room 201, and Robin will be happy to give you a flier with all the information and contact numbers.
For any other yard or garden questions, please call and leave a message on the Goodhue County Master Gardener 24/7 voicemail at (651) 385-3096. A master gardener will call you back with an answer in a few days.
