He was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Hay Creek Township to Benjamin and Elda (Santelman) Boldt. He attended school in Hay Creek Township. On Sept. 3, 1938, he married Irene Miller in Decorah, Iowa. The couple eventually made their home in Red Wing and were members of First United Methodist Church. Lester enjoyed watching many sports, especially baseball. He followed the Minnesota Twins, but especially loved watching and following his great grandsons' baseball games. He would keep the newspaper close at hand so his visitors could enjoy the articles and photos.
