In Monday’s Legion baseball opener, Red Wing was able to jump ahead 1-0. But visiting New Prague put together a pair of three-run innings in the fourth and seventh to leave the Red Wing Athletic Field with a 6-2 victory.

Post 54 got on the board first thanks to a throwing error as Ryan Jones reached home to put Red Wing up 1-0 in the bottom of the second.

Offense proved to be elusive for Post 54 as the team finished with just three hits. Down 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Peter Davig hit a pinch-hit one-out single, followed by another pinch-hit single by Andrew Lancmann. Davig would come home on a wild pitch.

Cody Leitner was charged with the loss after going six innings for Red Wing with eight strikeouts, four walks, six hits allowed and three runs.

Post 54 travels to Prior Lake on Wednesday before hosting Chaska for a doubleheader on Thursday.
