Legion Baseball: Lakeville North ends Red Wing's season
The Red Wing Legion Post 54 baseball team ended its season Friday with a 7-1 loss to Lakeville North at Memorial Park in Dundas, Minn.
Post 54 fell behind early and never recovered one day after tallying an 11-10 comeback victory against East Ridge.
Tristan Van Stone pitched 3 1/3 innings as Red Wing’s starter, giving up four runs on eight hits and one walk.
Post 54 collected five hits in the loss, with five different players delivering a hit. Trey Eckstrom was 1-for-4, Michael Bigelbach went 1-for-2 and Dixon Irwin was 1-for-3. Ryan Jonas finished 1-for-4 with an RBI and Marcus Leach went 1-for-1 with a double and a run scored.
Brandon Morgan led Lakeville North, going 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI while Dalton Lehnen was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Cole Nonwieler finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in the win.
Lakeville North grabbed a 5-0 lead after the fourth inning with a run each in the second and third innings and three more in the fourth.
Lakeville North padded the lead with runs in the sixth and seventh innings before Red Wing got on the board in the top of the ninth inning.
Leach hit a double, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out single by Jonas.
Post 54 finished the season with a 15-10 record.
