Laurel Carolyn Whipple, 68, formerly of Pepin
Laurel Carolyn Whipple, 68, a resident of the Syverson Lutheran Home in of Eau Claire, Wis., and formerly of Pepin, died Sunday at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. Born Dec. 24, 1940, in Pepin the daughter of George "Dewey" and Florence Weberg Johnson, she was the youngest of three siblings; Maxine (Wayne) Rundquist of Stockholm and Lois (Duane) Juliot of Pepin. Laurel was raised in Pepin and attended Pepin High School.
Laurel's passion was her family, friends, love for all people, including her Lord and Savior. She loved to be around others and thoroughly enjoyed socializing and attending various activities, such as eating out, bingo and the Red Hat Ladies Club. Laurel was an avid sports fan and watched and cheered for her favorite teams, the Packers and Brewers. She will forever be remembered for her sweet disposition and bright smile and will greatly and sadly be missed by all.
She is survived by her children, Rick Whipple of Pepin, Randy Whipple of Cochrane, Wis., Scott (Jodi) Whipple of Farmington, Minn., Rodney Whipple of Mondovi, Wis., Tammie Huebner of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Faith Daniel of Modena, Wis.; and 11 grandchildren, Kylynn, LeeAnn, Bryna, Travis, Dyllan, Adam and Blake Whipple, Alec and Katelyn Huebner, Chris and Josh Daniel. She was preceded in death by her parents, George "Dewey" and Florence Weberg Johnson.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Goodrich Funeral Home, Durand, Wis., with Pastor Deb Boynton officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Pepin. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Goodrich Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. A potluck picnic will be held at the Laura Ingalls Park in Pepin following the burial. The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care Laurel received during her stay at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.
