LaGosh honored at national FCCLA conference
Goodhue Family, Career and Community Leaders of America adviser Sandy LaGosh was honored at the organization's national convention this month in Nashville.
LaGosh received the 2013 Spirit of Advising Award. The honor is given to only one FCCLA chapter adviser from each state. LaGosh was nominated by Wendy Ambrose, Minnesota state adviser.
The award criteria includes highlighting an adviser who is "constantly faithful and often quietly working behind the scenes to ensure the success of their students," the organization said.
FCCLA has more than 200,000 members across 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The organization was founded in 1945.
• Red Wing Slumberland has a new store manager. Mike Miller was promoted to the position from assistant store manager effective at the beginning of July.
"Mike's extensive product knowledge and excellent customer care have been a key part of our steady store growth over the past four years," store owner Deb Diggins said.
Miller has worked at the Red Wing Slumberland store since 2007.
• Thrivent Financial for Lutherans was named to the 2012 Wad's 50 Top Performing Insurance Companies.
This is the ninth consecutive year Thrivent has been on the list. There were nearly 800 life insurance companies analyzed in the survey. The top companies passed all safety and consistency screens and achieved superior performance in the five-year analysis period.
"Being named yet again to the Ward's 50 Top Performing Insurance Companies list is something we are quite proud of," Thrivent Financial chief financial officer Randy Boushek said. "We continue to be recognized as an industry leader which is a direct result of our ongoing strength as well as our ability to provide our members with outstanding results."
Thrivent has an office in Red Wing.
• Tom Johnson from Red Wing's Coldwell Banker was ranked fourth for total selling units among Coldwell Banker agents in Minnesota. The ranking was for the second quarter of 2013.
