Ivan Lee Schneider Sr., 81, of Spokane, Wash., and formerly of Red Wing
Ivan Lee Schneider Sr., 81, of Spokane, Wash., and formerly of Red Wing, passed away Saturday in Spokane. Ivan was born in Vallonia, Ind.; he was the son of Oscar and Frieda (Shoemaker) Schneider.
Upon his graduation from high school, Ivan joined the U.S. Air Force for four years. Ivan married Ann Krueger and they shared over 57 years together until his passing. They made their home in Vallonia where Ivan began working for J.C. Penney Co. He was promoted many times during his career, managing stores in Seymour, Ind., Newport, Ariz., Mattoon, Ill. and Red Wing. He retired in 1989 and they moved to Spokane in 1990. During his retirement years, he enjoyed driving for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He enjoyed golf, bowling and working in his garden. He had memberships in Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis and bridge clubs. He was very active in St. John's Lutheran Church in Spokane.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Ann Schneider of Spokane; two sons, Lee Schneider Jr. and wife, Carol, and their children, David and Amy of Olathe, Kan., and Jonathan L. Schneider of Shawnee, Kan.; sister Ileen Nehrt and husband, Robert of Brownstown, Ind.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Schneider in 1993.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. today at Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane. Graveside services for Ivan Schneider will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial services will follow at noon at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or a charity of one's choice. Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
