Irrthums named a top farm family
The John Irrthum Family of Wanamingo is one of 74 families in the state named a 2014 Farm Family of the Year by the University of Minnesota. The Extension award recognizes families for their “commitment to enhancing and supporting agriculture,” according to a news release.
John Irrthum operates a dairy farm with his mother Pat, his wife, Linda, and two children. The family recently was awarded the Progressive Breeder Award at the All-Dairy Breeds Convention. Pat Irrthum coordinates the County Extension Home Study Program, while John Irrthum is a 4-H leader and president of the Minnesota Ayrshire Association.
The family will be recognized Aug. 7 at the annual Minnesota Farmfest on the Gilfillan Estate near Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
