Hader Tower site sold
The board awarded the sale of a concrete building and communications tower in Minneola Township to Whitewater Wireless of Rochester with a bid of $27,500. Whitewater Wireless plans to use the tower "for mounting antennas for digital communication system, providing digital services for business customers," according to the bid proposal.
The second-highest bid of $25,000 came from Contact Wireless out of Nevada, which planned to use the site to link amateur radio operators between the Twin Cities and Rochester.
A representative of Whitewater Wireless present at Tuesday's meeting said the company's operation could work cooperatively with Contact Wireless.
"I think both of these entities can win out of this deal," Commissioner Dan Rechtzigel said.
