Gymnastics: Wingers improve at New Prague
Season highs were the theme for the Red Wing gymnastics team on Friday in a loss to New Prague, Class 1A's No. 1-ranked team. The Wingers finished with a season-best score of 123.925.
"This was a great meet for us," said Red Wing head coach Megan Latch. "We had one of our top gymnasts, Irina Andeson, out with an injury, so the girls had to step up in practice and tonight, it showed."
Junior Carlie Sandstrom had a career-best score of 8.525 on the balance beam, and also had a season-high on the vault with a score of 8.3. Shayna Ramstad also shined on the vault with a career-best mark of 8.45.
On the balance beam, Mackenzie Irwin had a career-high score of 7.65, and Molly Hart scored her season's best in the beam with an 8.125. Jordan Munson finished off the day with a season-best score of 8.3 on the floor exercise.
The Wingers are back in action Tuesday at Chaska/Chanhassen before hitting the road again Saturday at Hudson.
