In its two final Missota Conference meets, Red Wing continued its season-long goal of improvement with a 123.7 in a double-dual against Farmington and Northfield. The Tigers and Raiders both beat the Wingers, with Farmington posting a 134.125, and Northfield, who hosted the event, a 150.525.
“It’s obvious that they’re a highly ranked team,” Red Wing co-head coach Lisa Hanson said of the Raiders. “It’s fun to watch state-caliber performances.”
Red Wing was led by Irina Anderson, who had the team’s top performances on the vault (8.975) and parallel uneven bars (7.875).
Abigail Rohan’s team best on the balance beam was an 8.15, which was good for third place against Farmington. On the floor, Carlie Sandstrom paced the Wingers with a season-best 8.05.
The meet was the sixth since Jan. 14 for the Wingers, who also missed out on additional practice time due to school being canceled.
“We did very well,” Hanson said. “We had a lot of individual girls perform well, and we improved our bars score. We came off a tough schedule of meets and bad weather. I’m really pleased with how our girls are holding it together and performing at the end of the season.”
The Wingers will conclude the regular season today in Hudson. Wisconsin teams from Grantsburg, Menomonie, River Falls and Superior plus the Tartan also will compete in the invitational.
