The Sheldon Theatre received a $5,000 grant from Xcel Energy this month. The grant was part of Xcel's arts and culture focus area of its corporate giving in areas served by Xcel.
"The success of our company is directly related to the health of our communities," Monique Lovato, Xcel Energy director of corporate giving, said. Other focus areas include technology, science and environment.
The Sheldon will use the funds for after-school programs including writing and performing works by students, fundamentals of performing and dance. It also will give Burnside Elementary School students the chance to see "The Nutcracker" at the Sheldon.
