Goodhue County Board briefs

Contract awarded for SE Collector project

Goodhue County Board awarded the Southeast Collector project contract to Griffin Construction Co. based in Chatfield, Minn. The winning bid was $4.7 million, 1.2 percent under the project's estimated cost.

"It's been a long time coming to get to this point," Public Works Director Greg Isakson said. The county only received two bids for the contract, largely due to the project's short timeframe, he added.

The project entails the creation of a new road from the future Highway 52 interchange to County Road 25 in Cannon Falls.

Griffin Construction worked with the county previously on a County Road 1 project west of White Rock. "They've been very good to work with," Isakson said. "We were real pleased that they got the low bid."

Meeting watch

Tuesday's County Board meeting lasted a brisk eight minutes. Commissioners Ron Allen and Richard Samuelson were not present.
