The Lake City girls golf team ran away with the Section 1AA-East sub-section meet victory Friday at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minn.

The Tigers won by 82 strokes, scoring a 355 with Winona Cotter tallying a 437 for second place. The top two teams advance to the section tournament.

Lake City's top four golfers all finished in the top five at Friday's meet. Lexi Geolat was the medalist with an 86 to lead the Tigers. Katy Bolduc took second with an 88 for Lake City, Claire Gruber scored an 89 for third place and Lidia Wallerich placed fifth with a 92.

The Section 1AA meet will take place Wednesday in Rochester.

The Tigers' boys golf team finished second, compiling a score of 370.

La Crescent was first with a 354.

Matt Glasenapp placed fourth with an 89 to lead Lake City. Sam Klipfel shot a 90, Cory Dick had a 94 and Garten Haeska carded a 97 to round out the Tigers' scoring on Friday.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa girls take second

The Zumbrota-Mazeppa girls golf team advanced out of the Section 1AA-West sub-section with a second place finish Friday at Northern Hills Golf Course in Rochester.

The Cougars had three girls scored in the top 10 on Friday and a tallied a team score of 389. Stewartville won the meet with a 355 and MacKenzie Olsen, of Stewartville, was the medalist with a 76.

Kari Thoreson shot a 95 to lead Z-M. Molly Lawler carded a 96, Emily Krohn had a 97 and Maddie Nyhus finished with a 101 for the Cougars.

Cannon Falls shot a 492 to finish in seventh place. Maddie Moskal led the Bombers with a 115 and Callie Loeschke shot a 118.

Cannon Falls' boys team placed seventh with a 354 and the Z-M's boys team took eighth place with a 355. Both teams will send one individual to the section final.

The Bombers' Matt Moskal finished second at Friday's meet with a 73 and Isaac Leonard tied for 10th with an 80 to advance for the Cougars.
