Girls Tennis: Lake City closes team season in Rochester

The Lake City girls tennis team’s season came to an end Tuesday in a 7-0 section semifinal loss to eventual Section 1A champion Rochester Lourdes.

The Tigers’ Josie Kuchinka had the closest match in singles, losing her No. 1 match to Sofia Terzic 6-2, 6-2. Katie Henning lost her No. 2 singles match to Rachel Kamath 6-2, 6-1, while both Grace Dankers and Lucy Hansen lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.

In the doubles matches, Lydia Warwick and Erica Hubbard lost to Jess Alexander and Sydney Alice 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2, Katie Coyle and Carley Cronin lost to Ellen Gorman and Shannon Pederson 6-4, 6-0 while Chloe McElmury and Natalie Poss lost to Elizabeth Hart and Grace Gorman 6-2, 6-1.

The Tigers finish the season 6-12, and will now turn to the individual section tournament that begins Friday and ends Tuesday, Oct. 15.
