Girls Swimming: Wingers nab first dual win

The Red Wing girls swimming team got its first dual win of the season on Tuesday, coming away with a 93-88 victory at Park of Cottage Grove.

The Wingers got off to a fast start as the 200-yard medley relay team of Ingrid Olson, Ashley Thompson, Carly Boisen and Claire King won with a time of 2 minutes, 05.35 seconds. Red Wing had another team follow in second as Hannah Kolsky, Abby Estabrooks, Polina Duchelle and Carli King finished in 2:17.52.

Ashley Thompson netted a win in the 200 individual medley at 2:29.89, and Olson led a 1-2-3 finish for the Wingers in the 50 freestyle with a first-place time of 26.54. Olson got another win in the 100 freestyle with a finish of 1:00.39, all while leading another 1-2-3 finish in the event.

Nina Kriese also reached the top of the podium with a first-place time of 6:07.60 in the 500 freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay team of Olson, Kolsky, Boisen and Claire King notched a third relay win (1:49.45), and Kolsky took first in the 100 backstroke (1:12.55) to cap off Red Wing’s scoring for the night.

The Wingers are back in the pool next Thursday for a Missota Conference dual meet with Northfield at Twin Bluff Middle School.
