Girls Soccer: PIZM secures another shutout

For the first time since Sept. 7, the Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa girls soccer team pitched a shutout, holding Plainview-Elgin-Millville without a goal in a 3-0 victory Monday in Pine Island.

“The girls played a really solid game,” said Wildcats’ head coach Doug Weincouff. “I didn’t know what to expect on one day of rest after a weekend tournament (at Dover-Eyota).”

What PIZM got was a balanced offensive attack as Madison House, Emilee Fredrickson and Tessa Gushalak each tallying goals. Keana Rosaaen and Abby Gushulak each had an assist in the victory.

Wildcats goalkeeper Summer Cavallaro was credited with her fourth shutout victory of the season.

PIZM (6-4-1) host Kasson-Mantorville on Thursday as the Wildcats hope to take third place from the KoMets in the Hiawatha Valley League standings.
