Girls Soccer: PIZM beats Lake City

With a goal midway through the second half, the Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa girls soccer team topped Lake City, 1-0, in a Hiawatha Valley League match Saturday.

"We played very well and it was a game that could have gone either way," said Lake City head coach Mark Spence.

Tigers goaltender Beth Petersen had six saves for the Tigers, but Lake City managed just two shots on goal.

The Tigers (1-4 overall, 0-2 HVL) will host Winona Cotter Monday while PIZM will head to Plainview-Elgin-Millville the same day.
