Red Wing scored at least two goals in each period, Nicole Schammel recorded a hat trick, and Emily Stegora and Reagan Haley each totaled three points as the Wingers blasted New Prague Tuesday, 7-3, to stay in second place in the Missota Conference.

Two of Schammel’s goals came in the first period, including the first goal of the game 1 minute, 36 seconds in. At 12:08, Schammel scored again to give the Wingers a 2-0 lead. The Trojans would cut that to one, but Maddy Hardyman scored 16 seconds before intermission to push the lead back to two.

New Prague opened and closed the second period with goals, but Emily Stegora scored twice in between, giving Red Wing a push in the second, and keeping the lead at two.

Schammel and Hardyman would both score in the final period, giving the Wingers a comfortable victory.

Ashley Corcoran made 23 saves to get the win in net, while Red Wing (13-6-0 overall, 6-1 Missota) put 33 shots on goal.

Chaska/Chanhassen (13-5-1, 7-1-0) will come to Prairie Island Arena Thursday to face the Wingers with first place in the league on the line.
