The Red Wing girls golf team got one more tune-up before section play begins next week and took first place at its home invitational Tuesday at the Red Wing Golf Club.

Led by medalist Stephanie Herzog, the Wingers had a team score 338 to take top honors. Lake City took second at 357, followed by Northfield (361), Winona (370) and Irondale (401).

"Obviously it was not as windy as last week (at Red Wing GC)," said Red Wing head coach Mark Herzog. "It's a challenging course, and we had a good day."

Stephanie Herzog finished with a 2-over par 73 to take medalist honors.

"I thought Stephanie had a really good round today," Mark Herzog said. "She hit the ball real well and she putted really nicely today."

Maddie Flack and Nicole Schammel followed up with rounds of 88, and Reagan Haley closed out the team score with an 89.

Katie Bolduc was the Tigers' top golfer with an 83, good for second place individually.

Red Wing opens the Section 1AAA tournament on May 30 at the Cannon Golf Club in Cannon Falls. Lake City starts play in the Section 1AA-East sub-section tournament Friday at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona.
