Girls Golf: Lake City sets record in invite victory
The weather may not have been perfect, but Lake City was awfully close. The Tigers crushed an eight-team field Monday at The Jewel Golf Club, shooting a school-record 299, far ahead of second-place Winona, who shot a 340. The old record for a four-score round was 319.
Lexi Geolat led the Tigers with a career-best, 1-over-par 72. Teammates Emily Schimbeno (74), Clarie Gruber (76) and Lidia Wallerich (77) also posted new personal best rounds.
“They were on fire today,” said Lake City head coach Steve Randgaard. “It was a lot of fun to watch.”
The Tigers will host Triton on Thursday, and then face the rest of the Hiawatha Valley League in the conference tournament on Friday.
