Girls Basketball: Z-M gets first win over Lanesboro

With four players in double digits, Zumbrota-Mazeppa rebounded nicely after a season-opening loss Friday with a 56-22 win over Lanesboro Saturday at the Dover-Eyota tournament.


Hailey Dykes led the charge with 16 points, while Carley Henning (12), Kalli Paukert (11) and Alyssa Quam (10) all finished in double figures. Dykes added eight rebounds, Paukert finished with four boards, and Tayler Mort tallied four rebounds and four steals in the victory.

“We took 71 shots and they took 24. That about sums it up for us,” said Z-M head coach Scott Paukert. “We also had 20 offensive rebounds. We still struggled shooting the ball, but we’ll take the ‘W.’”

Now at 1-1, the Cougars host Hayfield on Tuesday.
