A cold-shooting performance in the second half hampered the Cannon Falls girls en route to a 54-41 road loss to Stewartville Tuesday night.

Ashly Serres led the Cougars with 14 points, while Hailey Huseth added six points, six rebounds and four steals. Maggie Rutter and Courtney Woodcock each had seven rebounds, and Callie Loeschke also had six points.

A 22-20 game at halftime saw the Tigers pull away as the Cougars struggled to hit a shot.

“They started to shoot a little better in the second half, and we could not keep pace,” said Bombers head coach Eric Mace. Cannon Falls finished 3 of 11 from the free-throw line and 9 of 36 from the field. “That will do you in most nights,” Mace added.

The Bombers (0-2) will host Kasson-Mantorville at 7:15 p.m. Friday at home.
