A difficult first half that saw just six points on the board was too steep of a climb for the Lake City girls basketball team Tuesday night in a 50-28 loss to La Crescent.

“The first half offensively was pretty rough for us, but after that it was a good game. We held them scoreless in the first eight minutes of the second half, but we had dug ourselves a hole,” said Tigers head coach Candace Dudley.

Madi Green scored 13 points to go along with eight rebounds to lead Lake City in both categories. Breanna Gates added nine points while Lilly Johnson chipped in two buckets and five steals.

The Tigers (1-1) play twice more this week, hosting Plainview-Elgin-Millville Thursday, then taking a trip to Spring Valley Saturday to face Kingsland.
