Zumbrota-Mazeppa held tough with second-ranked (2A) Kenyon-Wanamingo on Friday, trailing by just eight at halftime. But the Knights’ shooters were tough to handle on the way to a 63-47 Hiawatha Valley League victory at Zumbrota.

K-W hit seven 3-pointers and was 16-for-20 from the free-throw line. Audra Clark had a game-high 18 points, while Siri Sviggum finished with 16.

Molly Lawler was Z-M’s top performer, tying a career high with 15 points to go with three assists. Hailey Dykes had nine points, seven rebounds and four steals in the loss.

The Cougars (6-10, 4-8 HVL) head to Lake City on Monday.
