Six straight wins to start the season did not carry enough weight for the Goodhue girls basketball team Friday against Hayfield. The Vikings, using a guard-heavy lineup and dead-eye shooting, topped the previously unbeaten and fourth-ranked (Class 1A) Wildcats, 72-68.

Mikayla Miller led all scorers with 27 points, adding nine rebounds in the defeat. Kali Ryan scored 15 for Goodhue, while teammate Michelle Hadler added 13. Rachel Watson led the Wildcats with 11 rebounds, chipping in seven points as well.

Dani Wagner scored 20 points for Hayfield.

Goodhue (6-1) will take a trip to Rochester Lourdes Tuesday and then host Kasson-Mantorville Friday.
