Girls Basketball: Goodhue routs Bethlehem Academy for road win
Over the last two years, Bethlehem Academy has been a thorn in Goodhue’s side. Despite being a perennial top 10 team in Class 1A, the Wildcats have been thwarted in the Section 1A-West playoffs by the Cardinals over the last two years.
Bethlehem Academy may have a new cast of players and a new coach, but that didn’t stop Goodhue from pulling away with an emphatic 83-33 victory Tuesday in Faribault.
“It was all Goodhue the whole game,” said Wildcats’ head coach Josh Wieme. “BA had graduated their whole lineup from last year and they have a new coaching staff. We just played well.”
Locking down the Cardinals on defense, Goodhue held Bethlehem Academy to single digits at halftime, 49-9. No one in the Cardinals’ lineup finished in double digits.
Pacing the Wildcats was senior Mikayla Miller, who finished with 23 points and nine rebounds. Shelby Hinsch added 15 points and eight boards, and Michelle Hadler and Sydney McNamara each had career highs in points with 10 and eight, respectively.
Goodhue (3-0) opens Hiawatha Valley League play Thursday at home against Stewartville.
