Girls Basketball: Goodhue passes test against ranked Win-E-Mac
Goodhue passed its biggest early-season test with flying colors on Saturday as the fourth-ranked Wildcats disposed of eighth-ranked Win-E-Mac, 61-51, in a Class 1A top-ten battle at the Breakdown Classic at Hopkins.
“It was a very nice win for us,” said Goodhue head coach Josh Wieme. “It was a measuring stick for us to see where we’re at.”
Mikayla Miller pulled off a triple-double with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 11 steals for the Wildcats.
“She really was a terror on the defensive end,” Wieme said of Miller. “She caused fits for Win-E-Mac.”
Shelby Hinsch added 14 points, four rebounds and three steals, and Kali Ryan tallied eight points in the win.
Down four in the first half, Goodhue went on a 9-2 run to finish the half up 33-30. From there, the Wildcats built a double-digit lead and never looked back.
Goodhue (5-0) is back in Hiawatha Valley League play Tuesday at Byron.
